On January 4, 2010 Feature Walters opened the doors of its Pre-fabricated Architectural Division in a fully-renovated clear-span building in Princeton, 15 minutes west of Brantford, Ontario. The plant reached full production in April.

A 3.5 story elliptical spiral stair detailed and built by Feature Walters for Tommy Hilfiger's global flagship on 5th Avenue is now complete. Digital design and fabrication was used througout the production process, ensuring tight tolerances and accurate fits between the structural steel "spine" and the gently curving handrail, glass and seamless white form which surrounds it.

Building an ultra-custom interior is difficult under ideal circumstances, but in Edmonton Alberta, the gateway to Canada's oilfileds, finding skilled labour is particularily challenging. Using an array of leading-edge technologies, Feature Walters helped solve the problem by detailing, fabricating and installing a completely pre-fabricated interior system.

In August, Feature Walters completed the fabrication and installation of a sculptural stair fabricated for this iconic high-fashion retailer. The stair, which appears to float, was designed by the retail group at Gensler in NYC. Completion pictures will be available after proffesional photography is completed sometime in October

Feature Walters has completed fabrication and installation of a "pivot wall system" designed by Gensler for the new west-side offices of Ogilvy in NYC. The system of swinging partitions hinged within space frames allows users to create huddle areas, meeting rooms, presentation spaces and theatres within seconds.

As of February 2009, Feature Factory Design Build will become Feature Walters. The full transition to the new company name will take place in March, 2009, with the launch of new websites for the Walters Group of Companies.

Following the successful completion of a reception project on floor 25, Feature Walters is proud to have completed the first phase of a $1M+ full-floor ornamental metal and glass project on floor 35. The 1st phase includes stainless steel and glass elevator lobby finish and frameless doors. Phase 2 includes unique animated showroom elements.

As part of our commitment to maximize quality and flexibility, Feature Walters has obtained Canadian Welding Bureau procedure certification of all our common decorative and structural welds. Work executed in the Feature Walters shop can now join work in the field coming from a qualified supplier without requiring additional inspection or certification.

A new retail concept (which opened 1 day early on March 2) features 18,000 square feet of free-form fixtures detailed and fabricated by Feature Walters . One of two retail projects produced this winter, the new store is designed by Gensler and strategically located in Kansas City, a popular test-bed for new consumer ideas.

On January 18th 2008, the Gensler-designed HBO Shop was named the 2007 Store of the Year in the 36th annual Institute of Store Planners (ISP)/VM+SD International Store Design Competition. The award was presented at the annual ISP gala in New York. Beautifully photographed by Andrew Bordwin, the custom structural glass retail displays with integral AV technology were built entirely by Feature Walters . The HBO store is located on 6th Avenue in uptown NYC.

Feature Walters' advanced BIM / PSM capability has resulted in several contracts to detail and produce components for a wide variety of projects. The most recent is a series of Armani Exchange locations across North America. The first store was completed in 2007 and others will be ready for spring '08. A rollout of additional locations is scheduled for deployment through 2008-2009

Gehry building Signage
Due to it's billowing form, detailing the Bruce Mau-designed signage for the new IAC headquarters in NYC provided a special challenge to Feature Walters engineers. The minimal mullions of the unitized glazing system provided none of the usual opportunities for anchoring the signs and the complex geometry of the building made it hard to hang the sign level and flat....more
UBS Chandelier
A new client reception center being built in the lobby of the UBS Investment Banking Division at 299 Park Avenue in NYC now features a 2-ton glass and stainless steel "logo cube" which was detailed and fabricated by Feature Walters. The impressive facility was designed by Gensler New York.more
